DIY LED cloud light

Ever since the pandemic started everyone has been cooped up in their bedrooms all day with nothing to do. What better to do than renovate the room that you’re stuck in all day? There have been many trends and a variety of popularity surrounding the DIY cloud light. Making one is easy and it looks super cool in any room. You can change the color of the cloud and set the mood or lighting for wherever. I found making the cloud very easy and fun to do. It is also fun to make with friends if you need something to do. It will be a fun addition to any room and it looks great at night.

What you will need:

  • Paper lanterns (how many depends on how big you want the cloud to be)
  • Batting (stuffing)
  • Glue gun
  • Fishing line
  • Wooden dowel
  • Hooks for ceiling

Steps:

  1. Take your glue gun and glue batting onto the paper lanterns.  Each lantern will make one of your clouds.
  2. Thread the LED light strip through the clouds you have made and distribute the light evenly. The wire will be hanging out from the back.
  3. Cut the fishing line to the length you would like to hang from the ceiling. You will need to cut two pieces, one for each side of the dowel. Tie fishing line to both ends of your dowel. You may want to measure the length of both after you have tied them to make sure the measurements are the same. Trim them to match, if necessary.
  4. You will need to cut more pieces of fishing line to hang the lanterns and string lights. Cut one piece for each lantern and attach to the dowel.
  5. Tie the hanging ends of your line to the tops of your lanterns to hang your DIY clouds one by one.
  6. Arrange them so they fit together in the way you want.
  7. Then finally take the cord from the LED lights that hang down and plug it in. You can use a cord cover if you want to hide the wire.
