Boy’s Golf Team Winning State

Boy's golf team after winning State.

The Boy’s Golf team has won Arizona Division Two Boys State Championship and had a great season this year. They have won a couple of tournaments this season, the team is ranked #1 in the state and coach Bias said, “We have the state tournament next week, so we’ll see how we do, but we’re one of the teams that have a chance.” A week later they won state. Jayden Schmitz and Brasen Briones tied for third place, Jacob Medina tied for eighth, and Beckett Carlson tied for twelfth place.

This is the second time the Boy’s Golf team has won state, the first time they won was in 2008. “We played very well for two days which was kind of the key for it, the unique thing this year was it was supposed to rain the second day, and in the past, they canceled the second day and they make it a one-day tournament so it was crucial to play well the first day,” said Bias.

“After the first day we put ourselves in a really good spot, you are never really comfortable with golf anything could happen you are always one bad swing away from a disaster, you also can’t control what anybody else does if some plays out of there mind and beats you there nothing you can really do to stop that. Probably with about 4 or 5 holes to play on the second day we had a Sixtine shot lead, so we could breathe a little bit, and kinda enjoy it”. What’s next for the Boy’s Golf team? Well, they will get an invitation to play in texas over the summer, and then the season will start all over again.
