On October 1st the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks faced off against the Canyon Del Oro Dorados in a very close game. With The Nighthawks trailing a touchdown late in the game, they drove down the field with a mix of passing and rushing. The Nighthawks were on CDO’s 3 yard line with 7 seconds left. With this play, Nighthawk quarterback Tyler Haynie ran the ball on a QB Draw which, unfortunately, came up short and left the the Nighthawks with a 26-22 loss.
Even though the Nighthawks lost, they fought hard and came up with many plays that kept them in the game the whole time. Quarterback Tyler Haynie had a good showing with 18 completed passes, 281 passing yards and 2 passing touchdowns. Another player who stood out was Wide Receiver, Andrew Cane, who had 7 receptions, 128 receiving yards, and 2 touchdowns. Finally, Running Back, Landon Billings, had a great game with 65 rushing yards, averaging 8.1 yards per carry and a touchdown. While these players stood out especially, the whole Nighthawk team played extremely hard from offense and defense to special teams. Every player showed tons of heart throughout the game. While the outcome of the game didn’t go our way, the Nighthawks have no reason to hang their heads.
