Environmental Science
For the next school year, 2021-2022, the Science Department at Amphi is adding a new science class that will be available for Ironwood Ridge, Canyon Del Oro, and Amphi High School students. It will be an Environmental Science class that will focus on the relationship between humans and the Earth. It is available for all grades and it is a full year course, the only prerequisite is a recommendation from a current science teacher.
The course description states that this class will allow students to understand the interrelationships of the natural world, analyze environmental problems, evaluate risks, and examine alternative solutions. It is an integrated class incorporating topics in Biology, Earth Science, Chemistry, Math, History, Philosophy, Sociology and Law.
IRHS Robotics Club
Something else to look forward to is Ironwood Ridge’s Robotics Club starting back up after not being able to meet up due to COVID last year. The club is run by Mr. Boe, who also teaches photography and is in charge of the yearbook. The current club members were unable to do much work given the situation of the past year, but before school was sent home last year they had a robot that they were working on that was almost competition ready. Mr. Boe is having a meeting on April 28 after school in his classroom for current members and anyone interested in joining.
On April 15 counselors sent out an email including information about the in person summer school programs for 2021. Any students interested can go to this can visit https://www.amphi.com/Page/23183 for more details about the course offerings.
