As the 2nd semester is rolls by, people are wondering what is taken into account when it comes to the return of students back on campus. Many factors play into the decision of coming back.
The charts above show data and tables of what the cases and numbers should look like. Disease Data, Healthcare System Availability, and Public Health Tracking and Prevention are all taken into account when it comes to making the decision to come back to school.
Every county has its own metric dashboard, with numbers and data.
“Each county makes their own decision based on what the metrics are, respective to what their populations are. The issues with the numbers are there is a 2-week delay or lag in getting numbers up to date,” said Matthew Munger, the principal at Ironwood Ridge High School.
Every Thursday every superintendent meets with the Pima County Health Department to get updated figures.
Munger then mentioned, “what people should pay attention to is Tuesday’s Governing Board meetings where Mr. Jaeger gives us the most up to date information and gives a recommendation on what to do.”
Every decision that the Governing Board makes, relies heavily on the considerations and recommendations of Mr. Jaeger, based upon the information discussed in the meetings with the Pima County Health Department and the current metrics.
As was announced, all students who choose to return in-person will be coming back in the hybrid model next week, starting on February 15th. The campus will host students once again.
