When schools first started doing online learning because of Covid-19, it was confusing and hectic to say the least. Students and teachers were learning to use Zoom and do all their work digitally for the first time. After a while, everyone got used to the setup of online learning for their classes but now the question is, how can you do it successfully? Being successful and organized in in-person school is difficult enough but it’s even more exhausting when switching back and forth from home to school in hybrid.
“The flexibility of studying online frees you from the constraints of a physical classroom and allows you to schedule study time around work and family commitments. But all this convenience and flexibility leaves you with too many options for when, where, and how to study. Since you may not have face-to-face contact with your professor and other students, you’ll have to keep yourself on track, ” says an article written by UTEP Connect.
They offer seven ways that students and teachers can increase their rate of success in online learning. They advise that students find a quiet space for attending class, create an effective work space for studying, make sure your space is comfortable, organize your files, schedule your time, stay organized online, establish a routine, and create a support system.
Staying organized at home is probably one of the biggest struggles faced while doing school. The freedom students have at home could become their downfall if they get too comfortable and don’t feel like they need to put in the same effort they would during in-person learning.
Many students have found ways that they feel have helped them with staying organized when it comes to their schoolwork.
“Google classroom already organizes my work for me in the to-do list. I also keep some homework, handouts, and notes in a binder, ” says Alex Ochoa, a student at Ironwood Ridge High School.
The best advice for any students who are struggling to stay organized with their schoolwork from home is to have a system for yourself that works. You can have all your notes and homework in one place separated by class to help you. Google classroom is also a big help because it will remind you about upcoming and missing assignments.
The stress created by online school can be lessened by making the whole process easier by staying organized and knowing how to be successful.
