IRHS First Assembly Since Pandemic

Ironwood Ridge High School had their first assembly in a year. COVID-19 struck in the Spring semester of 2020 and students were forced to go online. With students having returned to full, in-person learning, IRHS Stugo managed to get the approval for a Senior assembly. The assembly was for Seniors, and was held in the main gym on April 7th during 4th period. During the assembly Seniors participated in various activities and got news about their graduation.

The assembly started off with Seniors standing for the National Anthem, after which students participated in musical chairs. When it came down to the final two Seniors, STUGO leaders made them go to opposite ends of the court and race to their chair, with the winner getting a t-shirt as a prize. The next activity was tug-of-war, with two groups of seniors, of all sizes competing. Group two started strong, but group one eventually overcame them taking the win. After tug-of-war there was a relay race, boys against girls, and the girls won. The race had students run to a cone, cartwheel to the second cone, and roll to the last cone knocking down a pin with the final task being to shoot a basket till they made it. After the relay race Seniors watched the girls dance team dance.

When the dance team finished Stugo handed the mic to Mr. Munger and told Seniors the plans for Senior graduation. Here’s a sampling of what we learned:

  • Seniors will have their final exams on May 13th and 14th.
  • On May 15th Seniors will have a Formal Dinner that is replacing Prom.
  • On May 18th Seniors will be practicing their routine for graduation on the 19th.

Mr. Munger then ended the assembly by telling Seniors to finish strong, and to get their Project Grad tickets while they still can.
