When passing through the halls of Ironwood Ridge High School you may come across a table selling coffee and tea. This is the Culinary Arts Clubs’ way of making extra money to buy ingredients, go to restaurants, and, as a special experience, buy full lobsters for the seniors. As a point of pride, Jean Gowen, the teacher of the culinary arts class here at Ironwood says, “the kids are the ones who make the coffee and tea.”
The refreshing drinks you can buy at this table include; black, mint, raspberry, peach, and lemonade tea. They also sell a vanilla coffee, for which Ms. Gowen shared the recipe:
2 cups of instant coffee
8 cups of hot water
¼ cups of vanilla
3 gallons of milk
Gowen and her students can be found selling in the “A Building” once a month on Wednesdays. For more information on sale dates contact Ms. Gowen at (520)407-4195, by email at JGowen@amphi.com, or just stop by room B110.
