AzM2 and AzSci prep

It’s that time of year again! The standardized tests are here. Due onset of the current pandemic in the Spring semester of the 2019-2020 school year, students did not have to take the AzMerit test. It’s back this year with a new name, Arizona Merit Test 2 also known as the AzM2.

The block schedule began on Tuesday, April 13th and continues through Monday, April 19th. Wednesday will remain an early out day and all classes will meet as usual.

This year, Sophomores are required by the state to take the AzM2 state test. Juniors will be required to take the AzSci standardized test. The AzSci (Arizona Science) test used to be known as the Aims Test. Both tests were renamed due to the change in format.

Both tests are required to be taken by every Arizona Sophomore and Junior and students are all encourage to do their best. After the students take the test it will be sent to be scored and Ironwood Ridge will receive a letter grade based on the cumulative performance of the students. Depending on the letter grade the school influences available scholarships offered to the school.

To prepare for this test…

  • Eat dinner with carbs, proteins, and vegetables.
  • Take a shower the night before
  • Have a set schedule in the morning so that way you will have a non-stressful morning
  • Make sure everything in your backpack is organized
  • Get at least 8 hours of sleep
  • Eat a nutritious breakfast
  • Have a healthy snack packed as well as a water bottle and a pack of gum

Make sure to not stress too hard, take your time, and have fun.
